Tunnels Reef North Shore![]() Follow Rt. 56 past Princeville towards Hanalei. You will cross the Hanalei River Bridge (an iron one lane bridge). Drive 7.0 miles to the street address 5-5650. Turn right. This is 0.9 miles past the Hanalei Colony Resort and 0.6 miles before the Dry Cave at Haena Beach Park. This is where we will meet. Park carefully as parking is extremely limited. Don't forget to allow extra time for traffic! The north shore Tunnels Dive is subject to stong currents and big waves from November through March so we do not recommend diving there during this time. The good news is the whales come from the North Pacific to mate during the tunnels reef non-recommended season, so our east shore and south shore dives during the north shore advisories make the dives on the east and south shores especially spectacular if we get to hear the whales sing. Hearing them sing underwater even if we don't see them, cannot be described as our entire bodies will feel the vibrations of their songs. This is an extraordinary experience and cannot be guaranteed, however, once experienced you will want to feel it again and again. |
